Since 2008, the band's heavy metal rock, Iron Maiden, travels aboard a charter plane and customized to carry the band on their world tours. The plane of the band is called Ed Force One name voted on by fans of the band. The mascot of the band, Eddie, who has appeared in all his album covers are painted on the tail of the aircraft.

For the World Tour 2016, the band replaced its equipment retired the classic Boeing 757 taking place the best known aircraft in the world, the Boeing 747-400 - known worldwide for jumbo.

As all fanatics in aviation know - Bruce Dickinson, and lead vocal of the band is an airline pilot with an enviable license for many pilots. Since 2015 Dickinson has sought approval to fly the Boeing 747-400. The new Ed Force One will fly the 35 countries that the band must pass this year piloted by Dickinson.

The aircraft, registration TF-AAK, belongs to Air Atlanta Icelandic, aircraft charter company based in Iceland. Ed Force One was manufactured in 2003 and flew for the Air France until October 2015, when it was transferred to the Icelandic company.

Besides the band members and support staff, the plane will carry about 12 tons of equipment. It is expected that the new Ed Force One fly for almost 90,000 kilometers only in 2016.
